(SOUTHPORT, Conn.) — The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) welcomes the Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC) as a new member. MSC shares a common interest with NAMEPA in maintaining best industry practices to “Save Our Seas.” MSC promotes a focus on cleaner seas, land and cargo through massive investments in low-carbon technology, energy efficiency and operational efficiency.
“MSC joins an extensive list of members that continue working to surpass their own goals as well as the expectations of others. The initiative of such organizations is why NAMEPA is proud to call them members,” said NAMEPA Executive Director Carleen Lyden Walker.
“We are very pleased to partner with NAMEPA and leverage our ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable maritime industry. This initiative reflects our longstanding commitment to promoting responsible and environmentally sound operational practices and procedures while extensively investing in carbon reduction and cutting-edge pollution prevention equipment,” said Bud Darr, executive vice president, maritime policy and government affairs at MSC Group.
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and privately owned, the MSC Group is a world leader in the transportation and logistics sector, employing more than 70,000 people and offering a global network of solutions by land and sea. Despite its large-scale operations, MSC has remained true to its roots and core family values, placing its employees and its founder’s genuine passion for the sea at the heart of its development strategy and day-to-day operations.
