N.Y. utility sues barge company, alleges $30 million in damage to cable

(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) — The New York Power Authority has filed suit against Bouchard Transportation Co., alleging a Bouchard tug and barge damaged a vital power cable while anchoring in Long Island Sound, Newsday reported. NYPA, which owns and operates the 693-megawatt Long Island Sound Transmission Cable, estimated the damage at more than $30 million.
