Minor oil spill reported at M/V Miner salvage site

Mv Miner Cleanup

(HALIFAX, Nova Scotia) — About 800 liters of oil was collected after it leaked from the wrecked bulk carrier M/V Miner off Scaterie Island, CBC News reported. The incident occurred when the contractor responsible for the salvage tried to remove the last engine from the ship, which ran aground in September 2011. The company, RJM Construction, anticipated there might be oil or fuel left in the engine so workers set up a containment area before the lift.
