Martinac shipyard finds plenty of work constructing tugboats

(TACOMA, Wash.) — After declining demand for tuna boats caused the company to stuggle, J.M. Martinac Shipbuilding Corp. is busy again because of contracts to construct tugboats, the News Tribune newspaper reported. The Tacoma shipyard is building one tug for the LNG industry and four for the U.S. Navy. Martinac is also in line to do work on new Washington State Ferries if the orders eventually do get approved.
