(MALAGA, Spain) — The 1,138-foot Svendborg Maersk lost more than 500 containers last week in 30-foot seas and 60-knot winds off northern France, CNN reported. The Danish-flagged ship is undergoing repairs in Spain after the incident, which is being called the biggest recorded loss of containers overboard at one time. Svendborg warned French maritime authorities that vessels should look out for floating containers, but most sank quickly in the mountainous seas. Only four were recovered.
