Leaking oil causes fire on cruise ship off southeast Alaska

(JUNEAU, Alaska) — Leaking oil in the engine room caused a fire Monday aboard the cruise ship Island Princess as it toured the waters of Glacier Bay National Park, the Maritime Herald and Cruise Law News reported. A passenger posted online that there was an emergency announcement and an alarm was raised. The crew succeeded in restricting the flames and the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. Coast Guard personnel reportedly boarded and inspected the ship, which was allowed to continued its voyage.
