(BLOCK ISLAND, R.I.) — Rhode Island's Deepwater Wind began installing the steel foundations for North America's first offshore wind farm on Monday, Reuters reported. Representatives from the U.S. Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and environmental groups toured the offshore construction site as vessels hauled the structures into place. The 30-megawatt wind farm three miles off the coast of Block Island will include five turbines.
