(KINGS POINT, N.Y.) — The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy's new superintendent says the academy plans to acquire a new training vessel, Patch.com reported. Col. James Helis, who took office this week, said it will be a vessel for brownwater training. It's part of the academy's strategic plan that includes managerial and infrastructure improvements, including better maintenance and a revamped science building.
