(HOUSTON) — Gulf Island Fabrication Inc. announced Wednesday that through its Shipyard Division it has been awarded the option to build a second 3,300-horsepower towboat, following an announcement in May of the contract for the initial boat for an unidentified customer. Delivery of the second vessel is estimated at two months after delivery of the first vessel.
“We are pleased to be awarded this option for the second newbuild towboat," said Kirk Meche, president and CEO of Gulf Island. "This work will be performed at our shipyard in Houma, La. This is yet another indication of confidence from our customers as it relates to our ability to perform and provide quality vessels.”
