Green project helps Minn. towboat get new engines

(ST. PAUL, Minn.) — A Mississippi River towboat is being upgraded with new engines as part of Minnesota's Project Green Fleet, MPR News reported. The new 600-hp diesels on the 56-foot Becky Sue were subsidized in part by the Minneapolis-based Environmental Initiative. The towboat, owned by Upper River Services, is also getting a new transmission, cooling system and controls in a retrofit that will curb emissions.
