Former R/V Knorr now sailing for Mexican navy

(WOODS HOLE, Mass.) — The former R/V Knorr is flying the Mexican flag after 45 years of serving the United States and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, The Falmouth Enterprise reported. The research ship is now called Rio Tecolutla after a transfer ceremony Monday involving representatives of WHOI, the U.S. Navy and the Mexican navy. In its time in the U.S., Knorr traveled 1.3 million miles and served on 250 science missions.
