Federal Maritime Commission appoints new top lawyer

The following is the text of a press release issued by the Federal Maritime Commission:
 
(WASHINGTON) — Chairman Richard A. Lidinsky, Jr. announced today the appointment of Rebecca A. Fenneman to the Senior Executive Service and her designation as General Counsel of the Federal Maritime Commission.
Most recently, Ms. Fenneman served as the Commission’s Deputy General Counsel. She joined the Commission in 1998 as an attorney-advisor in the Office of the General Counsel. She also served as Deputy Director in the Commission’s Bureau of Trade Analysis.
Ms. Fenneman holds a B.A. in History from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Maryland. She is a member of the Maryland Bar and a resident of Virginia. She is currently the President of the Maritime Administrative Bar Association.
“The Commission is fortunate to have Rebecca’s exceptional legal and maritime regulatory expertise and judgment as we confront the challenges of ensuring that the economic recovery is supported by a strong, efficient, and sustainable ocean transportation system that benefits U.S. exporters and consumers,” said Chairman Lidinsky.
