(PORT ALBERNI, British Columbia) — A former BC Ferries vessel will spend the winter tied up at Port Alberni, the Alberni Valley News reported. The former Queen of Esquimalt has been purchased by a Chinese owner, but needs to wait until the winter passes before it can sail across the Pacific Ocean. The ship, now called Princess Jacqueline, will be used as a cargo ship. Its berthage at Port Alberni is welcome revenue for the struggling lumber port.
