EPA fines Mass. shipyard for late permits

(FAIRHAVEN, Mass.) — The Environmental Protection Agency has fined Fairhaven Shipyard $60,000 for failing to comply with reporting regulations of the Clean Air Act, SouthCoastToday.com reported. In 2012, the agency found that the company lacked the necessary EPA permits, then fined it after delays in the application process. The shipyard has been the subject of noise and pollution complaints from neighbors after it underwent renovations in 2011.
