The 111-year-old ship was launched on Dec. 12, 1903, in Lorain, Ohio and had weathered some of the Lakes' biggest storms. "It's not a terribly happy ending," said Steve Haverty, who launched the nonprofit Great Lakes Steamship Society in a bid to preserve the vessel as a museum.
