(VALDEZ, Alaska) — Edison Chouest Offshore will be adding new vessels to its fleet when it takes over tanker escort and oil spill response out of Valdez in 2018, the Alaska Journal of Commerce reported. Louisiana-based Edison Chouest announced in early June that it was selected by the Aleyska Pipeline Service Co. to provide services in Prince William Sound that are currently handled by Crowley Marine Services. “(Edison Chouest) will be building new state-of-the-art tugs and new response barges for … Prince William Sound operations. These tugs and barges will include the latest technology and comply with the latest regulations,” Linda Leary, president of Edison Chouest Alaska subsidiary Fairweather LLC, told the journal.
