(CHARLESTON, S.C.) — U.S.-based Detyens Shipyards has been awarded contracts for the overhaul of Spearhead-class joint high speed vessel USNS Choctaw County (JHSV 2), USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201) and USNS Lewis and Clark (T-AKE 1).
USNS Choctaw County
The scope of works for the U.S. Navy includes waterjet maintenance, hull coating inspection and repair, inspection of sea chests and renewal of anodes. The work will commence in the next couple of months and is scheduled to last 28 days.
The $12.5 million firm-fixed-price contract is for 71-calendar day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and dry docking of USNS Patuxent. Work will include general ship services for ship clean and gas free tanks, voids, cofferdams, hazardous waste disposal, ballast tank recoat, tank deck overhead preservation, potable water tank preservation full blast/coat, port and starboard main engine 72,000 hour overhaul, cargo system wire replacement, cargo console mechanical support, rehooking and annual lifeboat recertification, rescue boat davit relocation, dry-docking and undocking vessel and underwater hull cleaning. The contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the total contract value to $13.5 million. Work is expected to be completed by June 10, 2015. The Navy’s Military Sealift Command is the contracting activity.
USNS Lewis and Clark
The $15.8 million firm-fixed-price contract is for a 75-calendar day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and dry-docking of USNS Lewis and Clark. Work will include bridge equipment annual service, main diesel generator overhaul, life raft annual certification, dry-docking, propeller shaft inspection, underwater hull cleaning and painting, freeboard cleaning and painting, overhaul sea valves, blast and coat tanks, and renew flight deck non-skid. The contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the total contract value to $16.1 million. Work is expected to be completed by July 3, 2015. Military Sealift Command is the contracting activity.
