Detyens refloats upgraded ferry for Maine-to-Nova Scotia service

The following is the text of a news release from Bay Ferries Ltd.:

(CHARLOTTETOWN, Prince Edward Island) — The Cat high-speed ferry was refloated last week following an extensive period of refit, upgrade and repair which commenced in early April at Detyens Shipyard in Charleston, S.C.

Following the refloating, final work, including completion of regulatory inspections and dock and sea trials, will be undertaken before the vessel departs South Carolina for Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Portland, Maine. The final schedule for the vessel's northern voyage has not yet been set.

The vessel, under charter by Bay Ferries Ltd. from the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command, is intended to enter ferry service between Yarmouth and Portland on June 15.
