(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.; Sept. 17, 2010)–Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group has been named among the “Best of the Best” in Logistics Management magazine’s 27th Annual Quest for Quality Awards. The results were published in the August edition. A company representative will accept the award at the annual 2010 Quest for Quality Awards Gala Dinner on Sept. 27 in San Diego.
The results are part of an extensive survey involving responses from over 5,400 magazine readers who have responsibility for buying transportation and third-party services. To be named a leader in each category, a company had to receive at least five percent of the category vote. In the ocean carrier segment, Crowley was highly ranked when judged for on-time performance, value, information technology, customer service and equipment and operations. The top six ocean carriers were separated by less than a point on the overall weighted score scale. Logistics Management’s Quest for Quality Awards are regarded among the most important indicators of customer satisfaction and performance excellence in the transportation and logistics industry.
“We’re honored once again to be recognized by our customers and by Logistics Management magazine as one of the leading ocean carriers in the world,” said Tom Crowley, Jr., chairman, president and CEO. “This acknowledgment is a reflection of our outstanding employees, who work hard, innovate, and always try to find a way to exceed customers’ expectations.” “Shippers are now scrambling for space and are going to get squeezed on rates…in something the analysts are calling a ‘mini shipping-container boom,” said Logistics Management in the August issue. “Shippers are going to have to plan their routes and budgets more strategically, [but] carrier executives can finally take a deep breath-especially the select group Logistics Management readers have placed in the Quest for Quality winners circle.”
