(NEW ORLEANS) — A federal appeals court has revived a government lawsuit alleging that Bollinger Shipyards lied about the hull strength of eight Coast Guard patrol boats, The Times-Picayune reported. The vessels, delivered to the Coast Guard beginning in 2004, were deemed unseaworthy after a boat's hull began to buckle at sea. A U.S. District Court judge dismissed the $78 million lawsuit last year, but a panel of the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed that action on Dec. 24.
