Cougar Ace’s shipwrecked car-go to be scrapped in Oregon

(PORTLAND, Ore.) — Thousands of Mazda autos that were on the Cougar Ace when the car carrier took on water in 2006 are being scrapped at an Oregon steel business, the Daily Journal of Commerce newspaper in Portland repoted. The Cougar Ace ran into trouble and capsized in off Alaska. The ship didn’t sink and very few of the 4,700 cars had water damage, but Mazda has decided that it can’t guarantee their quality after lying tipped sideways for weeks in the salty air.
