Cooperation, creativity helped save the disabled Golden Seas

(DUTCH HARBOR, Alaska) — A unique cooperative effort led to the successful rescue of the disabled bulk carrier Golden Seas, The Dutch Harbor Fisherman reported via alaskadispatch.com. A oil-industry tug paused from its normal duties to tow the ship, which had lost most propulsion power in the Aleutians. The tug owner, as well as the oil company that had chartered the vessel, worked with the U.S. Coast Guard to develop a salvage plan to tow the ship to Dutch Harbor, and the crews of both vessels worked tirelessly to ensure that the whole project was completed safely.
