The following is the text of a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard:

(NEW ORLEANS) — The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a partially submerged unclassified construction vessel at mile marker 300 on the Arkansas River near Fort Smith, Ark., on Monday.

Watch standers at Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River received a report at approximately 4:10 p.m. of the sinking construction vessel.

The vessel has a reported 200 gallons of diesel on board.

Light sheening around the vessel has been observed.

An oil spill response organization from Little Rock is reported to be en route to the scene.

Members from Marine Safety Detachment Fort Smith, Ark., are on scene to investigate the situation.
