Conservancy acquires ocean liner SS United States from NCL

(PHILADELPHIA) — The nation’s flagship ocean liner has been saved from the scrap heap, the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper reported. The SS United States has been purchased from Norwegian Cruise Line by the SS United States Conservancy. Investors in Miami and New York have expressed an interest in incorporating the legendary passenger vessel in development projects, but the ship is expected to remain in Philadelphia while it is being historically preserved.
