(MORGAN CITY, La.) — Conrad Shipyard has signed a contract with Harley Marine Services of Seattle, Wash., to build two 4,560-hp ATB tugs. The announcement was made by Conrad President and CEO Johnny Conrad.
"It is always gratifying to get new business from a valued longtime customer," he said. "It is validation of our commitment to quality, craftsmanship, integrity and service, and a compliment to the exceptional talents of our shipbuilding team."
The two new vessels will be 116 feet in length and powered by GE 6L250 Tier 4 diesel engines rated at 2,280 bhp. They were designed by naval architects Entech Design of New Orleans. Both vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2017.
Harley Marine Services provides marine transportation services in every major U.S. West Coast port as well as Alaska, New York and the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, the company provides tank storage and product transfer, ship assist, rescue and general towing services. Conrad previously delivered two tugs to Harley and currently has two more under construction.
