(MARTINSBURG, W.Va.) — The U.S. Coast Guard is replacing the 1981 version of Bowditch Volume II with the 2019 version in Regional Exam Center (REC) examination rooms.

The 1981 version has become difficult to obtain. The 2019 version contains the information needed to answer Coast Guard examination questions; however, it is not identical to the 1981 version and does not contain the same level of explanations as the 1981 version.

The reference materials authorized in REC examination rooms can be found on the National Maritime Center (NMC) website.

If you have any questions, concerns or feedback, contact the NMC Customer Service Center by e-mailing IASKNMC@uscg.mil or calling 1-888-IASKNMC (427-5662).
