Coast Guard, Oil Mop respond to wellhead leak in Bayou Dupont

The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:
 
(NEW ORLEANS) — The Coast Guard is responding to a report of crude oil in Bayou Dupont, north of Barataria Bay.
 
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 2:05 p.m., Sunday, that a pipeline from a platform owned by Cedyco Corp., was leaking crude oil into Bayou Dupont. A second leak was located on a two inch flowline attached to wellhead 16.
Cedyco Corp., has contracted Oil Mop, an oil spill response organization, for cleanup operations.
The Coast Guard is on scene and overseeing the operations of the OSRO.
There are currently no reports of impacts to wildlife.
Currently, response crews have secured the flowline attached to wellhead 16 and they are working to secure the pipeline.
The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the incident.
