Coast Guard hosting forum on Alaska port access

The following is the text of a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard:

(KODIAK, Alaska) — The Coast Guard Department of Waterways Management Branch is scheduled to host a public meeting from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Event Center in Juneau, Alaska.

The public is invited to attend and present public comments on the Port Access Route Study of the Chukchi Sea, Bering Strait and Bering Sea.

The goal of this study is to help reduce the risk of marine casualties and increase the efficiency of vessel traffic in the region. The recommendations of the study may lead to future rulemaking action or appropriate international agreements.
