Coast Guard funds study of windmills’ impact on marine radar

(NORTH FALMOUTH, Mass.) — The Coast Guard is funding a study that will examine whether an off-shore windmill farm will negatively affect mariners’ radar systems, the Cape Cod Times newspaper reported. The $100,000 study is scheduled to be completed this year. The wind farm proposed for Nantucket Sound also has sparked debate about the width of a buffer zone between the windmills and ferry routes.
