Coast Guard Foundation to host annual USCG tribute

The following is text of a news release from the Coast Guard Foundation:

(STONINGTON, Conn.) — The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and well-being of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced Thursday that its 15th annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard in Our Nation’s Capital will take place on Tuesday, June 4 at the National Building Museum, Washington, D.C.
 
This year’s event will recognize the foundation’s 50th anniversary and will show appreciation for those who have made its work possible. Norm Mineta, former secretary of transportation, and Tom Ridge, former secretary of homeland security, are honorary dinner co-chairs of the event. Kevin McAleenan, acting secretary of homeland security, will provide keynote remarks. Kyra Phillips, investigative correspondent for ABC News, and retired Coast Guard Adm.Thad Allen will serve as the masters of ceremonies. The Coast Guard Band and Ceremonial Honor Guard will be featured.
