Coast Guard: Carnival Triumph fire caused by fuel line leak spraying oil on hot surface

(NEW ORLEANS) — The Carnival Triumph fire started because a fuel return line leaked and sprayed oil onto a hot surface, NBC News reported. A Coast Guard official said the engine room had to be sealed off in order to contain and suppress the fire. She did not say why the power loss was so severe or when the line was last inspected.
