(VICTORIA, Texas) — The Coast Guard has begun using cell phone technology to assist in rescue efforts, the Victoria Advocate newspaper. In a recent response in the Gulf of Mexico, cell phone towers were able to help the responders narrow the search area. Offshore telecommunications companies hope to forge a stronger relationship with the Coast Guard.
