Coast Guard accepts SafeMARINER-ACTion course for Subchapter M compliance

(HOUSTON) — SafeMARINER LLC and the ACTion group’s marine internal lead auditor (MILA) course has been audited by a third-party registrar and is now recognized as the first internal lead auditor course developed specifically for the inland industry and Subchapter M. The course has been certified as meeting the ISO 19011 Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems and the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Requirements. The U.S. Coast Guard has reviewed the course and determined that it is substantially equivalent to an ISO 9001 course and meets the internal auditor training requirements under 46 CFR 138.310(d)(2).

“This course is specifically developed for and by marine industry professionals," said Rick Dunn, SafeMARINER’s president. "It covers advanced principles of safety management and fully meets the international auditing standards.”

"This course is full of practical hands-on exercises for opening meetings, closing meetings, developing audit protocols and meeting TMSA and regulatory standards,” said David Foret, the ACTion group president.

The course is taught throughout the year in Houston and can be provided at a company’s site. It is offered through the Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau or directly from SafeMARINER at (281) 309-8499 or www.safemariner.com, or the ACTion group at (281) 452-9940 or www.theagcteam.com.
