Charleston harbor pilot, 70, guides his last vessel into port

(CHARLESTON, S.C.) — Charleston harbor pilot Bill Elliott has guided a ship for the final time in his 41-year career, television station WCSC reported. Elliott said vessels he piloted early in his career could fit as deck cargo on the huge ships that sail to Charleston now. Elliott recently celebrated his 70th birthday, which triggers mandatory retirement in South Carolina.
