(BELLE CHASSE, La.) — C&C Marine and Repair has delivered M/V Jerry Jarrett to Marquette Transportation Co., the third in a series of new 6,600-hp, 160-by-50-foot triple-screw z-drive towboats. Jerry Jarrett was delivered just four months after the second towboat in the series, Chris Reeves, and only seven months after the first boat in the series, Cindy L. Erickson. After delivery of the second towboat, Marquette Transportation exercised the option for a fourth towboat.
Jerry Jarrett was designed by CT Marine, based in Portland, Maine. The unique design includes three Cummins QSK60-M main engines that are paired to three Steerprop SP25D z-drive thrusters. The triple z-drive configuration allows for optimal speed, power and maneuverability. In addition, the z-drives operate at lower engine loads to boost fuel efficiency.
The vessel offers accommodations for 13 crewmembers. The vessel’s superstructure is supported on a bed of springs for added crew comfort, and a soft-core jointer system was installed in the accommodation spaces for additional comfort and fire safety.
Josh Esper, executive vice president of Marquette Transportation, “We have been very pleased with the results. C&C Marine and Repair has exceeded our expectations on both quality and production.”
The fourth towboat for Marquette is scheduled for delivery this December.
