(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) — The captain in the 2003 Staten Island Ferry crash that killed 11 passengers said the aftermath of the accident was chaotic, the Staten Island Advance newspaper reported. The captain said the pilot who had fallen asleep was distraught, and a police officer entered the pilot house weeping. The captain testified about the accident for the first time this week during a civil trial in which Henry Marine is seeking a $6 million payment from the city of New York for assisting the damaged ferry.
