Bulker freed after grounding in high winds off Newfoundland

Kure Harbour Near Placentia

(PLACENTIA BAY, Newfoundland) — A bulk carrier that ran aground Saturday morning in Placentia Bay has been freed, CBC News reported. The Panamanian-flagged Kure Harbour was in the process of lifting its anchor at about 0800 when high winds caused it to ground. The tugboat Lois M secured a towline to the bulker with two other tugs standing by if needed as crews waited for the rising tide. Kure Harbour lifted free at about 1830 on Saturday. No pollution was reported.
