(CARDINAL, Ontario) — The CSL Assiniboine’s six-day grounding was the toughest salvage operation on the St. Lawrence Seaway in several years, the Ottawa Citizen reported. The bulk carrier lost both engines and drifted out of the channel. Four tugboats were needed, and the load of soybeans was painstakingly lightered from the vessel before it reversed course to become dislodged from the shoal.
