British Columbia barge intentionally beached after springing a leak

(WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — A barge full of wood chips was intentionally beached after it began taking on water, the North Shore News reported. At first, crews tried to pump water out of the leaking barge, but the trouble worsened, so tugboats beached the vessel until a crane could be brought in to lighten the load. The barge was stabilized at Dundarave Beach and towed to North Vancouver for repairs.
