Boxship damaged in expanded Panama Canal

(PANAMA CITY, Panama) — A 8,500-TEU neo-Panamax containership struck a wall at the expanded Panama Canal on Thursday, breaching the ship's hull, World Maritime News reported. M/V Xin Fei Zhou, owned by China Cosco Shipping, was damaged while transiting the new Agua Clara locks. Officials said the wall sustained minor damage and canal traffic was not affected.
