Boston tour boat loses power, hits three others

The following is the text of a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard:

(BOSTON) — A Coast Guard investigation into an allision Saturday involving four Boston Harbor cruise ships has determined that the motor vessel Codzilla was also damaged.

The Coast Guard has directed the Codzilla to be repaired before resuming transportation of passengers.

Also, as an update to the initial press release, the investigation determined passengers were in fact aboard the cruise ships Rookie and Aurora at the time of the allision.

No injuries or pollution have been reported.

At approximately 10:20 a.m. the Coast Guard was notified that the Boston Harbor Cruises ship Regency had allided with three other Boston Harbor Cruises ships, Rookie, Aurora and Codzilla, at the pier.

Regency was returning to Long Wharf with passengers when it reportedly suffered a mechanical failure and drifted into the three other ships.

Rookie and Aurora did not appear to be damaged. Regency reported minor damage above the waterline.

A Coast Guard investigating officer investigating the cause and a Coast Guard marine inspector will inspect all three ships prior to them returning to service.
