(NEW ORLEANS) — William (Billy) S. Smith III has been named chief operating officer (COO) of Trinity Yachts effective immediately. The announcement was made by Shane Guidry, president and CEO of Harvey Gulf International Marine.
Smith previously served as vice president of sales and marketing at Trinity Yachts and Gulf Coast Shipyard Group (GCSG), a position which was eliminated upon the purchase of the companies by Harvey Gulf on June 25. In hiring Smith, Guidry said, “One of the most respected professionals in the maritime industry, Billy brings not just an institutional knowledge of Trinity and Gulf Coast Shipyard Group, but also deep relationships with national and international contacts in the boat building community. Billy is a valuable asset to Trinity Yachts, and we are confident that he will help take Trinity Yachts to the next level.”
Smith is a founding member and current board member of the Superyacht Builders Association (SYBAss), and a member and former vice chairman of the United States Superyacht Association (USSA). He is also a founding board member of the Gulf Coast Conservation Association of Louisiana.
