(NORTH BEND, Ore.) — The removal of the New Carissa shipwreck is almost completely finished, the Register-Guard newspaper of Eugene reported. Titan Salvage said it is in the process of removing the beached woodchip freigher’s 260-ton main engine, and then all that will be left is a big piece of the vessel’s starboard side. Titan will either lift the remaining portion in its entirety and slip a barge underneath it, or it will gradually lift it to continue slicing it up and removing it piecemeal.
