BC ferry anchor accidentally drops, halting Georgia Strait voyage

(VICTORIA, British Columbia) — An anchor accidentally dropped during a BC Ferries voyage out of Swartz Bay, the Times Colonist newspaper reported. Witnesses said they heard a loud banging for about 10 minutes, felt the Spirit of British Columbia shudder and saw dust flying out of the stern area. A BC Ferries spokeswoman said the reported dust was actually rust particles that were released from the anchor’s locker.
