(FORT MADISON, Iowa) — A barge was damaged and took on water after hitting the Fort Madison Bridge early Tuesday morning, KWQC News reported. The U.S. Coast Guard said that at about 0100, a cross-current apparently pushed the barge into the bridge over the Mississippi River. Divers were making emergency repairs to the void area of the barge, which was carrying liquid fertilizer.
