(MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas) — A barge struck and damaged a swing bridge to Sargent Island on Thursday night, cutting off access to the mainland, KHOU 11 reported. The bridge provides access for nearly 50 permanent residents on the island, which also has 150 vacation homes. Officials have not determined a timeline for repairs.
