(AVONDALE, La.) —Huntington Ingalls Industries announced this week that the Avondale Shipyard is being sold, WWL News reported. The 206-acre site is on the market after a tumultuous last five years that included layoffs and threats to close the facility. Huntington Ingalls had tried to re-purpose the former U.S. Navy yard for commercial work.
