MV Troy Bernier joins Maritime Partners fleet

Marine equipment lessor Maritime Partners LLC has added the inland towboat M/V Troy Bernier to its inventory of more than 1,600 inland waterways pushboats, towboats and barges. 

The largest lessor of marine equipment in the U.S., the Metairie, La., headquartered firm took possession of the 84-foot vessel, which was built at the C&C Marine & Repair shipyard in Belle Chasse, La., designed by Entech Designs LLC, and named for Maritime Associates’ senior management team.  

The 2,600 bhp vessel is leased to and being operated by Paducah, Ky.-headquartered Reliant Maritime Solutions.

Troy Bernier is powered by twin, 12-cylinder, Cummins – Mid South Tier 3 QSK38M1 marine diesel engines, which turn four-bladed HS Marine Propulsion propellers via Reintjes WAF 665 marine reduction gears.

Johnson Duramax supplied the shaft seals and bearings with the engines cooled by Fernstrum keel coolers.

A pair of Cummins 99 kW 208 VAC, 3 Phase, 60 Hz generator sets provide power for  a pair of steering rudders and four flanking rudders controlled via an electric-over-hydraulic, full follow-up steering system with 45 degree swing, and two Cummins 210 hp electric motors with hydraulic pumps.

Rio Controls supplied the boat’s electric-over-hydraulic steering system and engine alarms, while the boat features navigation and communication equipment from Wheelhouse Electronics, including a pair of Furuno radars and Rosepoint ECS.

Troy Bernier has an eye level of 33 feet and is the 12th of 15 towboats C&C Marine & Repair is building for Maritime Partners. 

On deck, the vessel features two Patterson 40-ton electric winches. Fendering is by Schuyler.
