Coast Guard awards Rozema major contract for new surf- capable rescue boat

The U.S. Coast Guard’s 52-foot Motor Lifeboats (MLBs), also known as “special-purpose craft–heavy weather (SPC-HWX),” were formally removed from service in 2021. The MLBs will be replaced by the new 64-foot SPC-HWX II built by Puget Sound Region-based Rozema Boat Works.
