Arctic to be ice-free in summer, open to ships (ANIMATION)

(CAMBRIDGE, England) — Ships may be able to sail to the North Pole by 2020, according to a study by the Polar Ocean Physics Group at Cambridge University, The Times of London reported. The Arctic will be largely ice-free each summer within the next 20 years. One researcher said a Japanese car carrier would be able to sail over the North Pole to the Atlantic Ocean.
